Moyes was first introduced to motorsport at 12 years old when a neighbour showed him a kart and let him spend time around the sport. After quickly becoming hooked, he began racing karts himself and found strong success within his first 18 months before progressing into touring car racing.

Saxon Moyes competes in a 2015 Toyota GT86 running a Rocket Bunny and TRD styled body with Rotiform three-piece wheels. Under the hood sits a 2JZ engine producing around 1000whp, giving the car a driving style that’s fast and aggressive while still remaining smooth and controlled.

Despite success on the circuit, drifting remained the biggest draw. After years of watching drifting videos online, he eventually purchased a basic drift car to start developing his skills. Around the same time he also began building the Nissan 180SX he still owns today.

Friends later encouraged him to enter Drift Masters Pro-Am to pursue a professional drifting licence. At the time he was simply enjoying drifting casually, but after entering the event he walked away with the win in his very first drift competition.

Some of the highlights of his career so far include competing at the World Time Attack Challenge International Drifting Cup in 2024 along with the Boost Mobile Pro Drift Slam GC500 in the same year.

Beyond the track, we love to learn a little more about the drivers themselves.

What is your favourite track or circuit to drive and why?

Pukekohe Park Raceway. The track is extremely fast with no room for error, which pushed his driving ability to a whole new level.

Any driving tips for beginners?

Keep it basic. Simple cars are often the best as they’re cheaper to run and less likely to break. Some of his favourite memories in drifting came from driving his very first drift car.

What hobbies do you have outside of racing?

Rock climbing and hiking, both of which challenge him physically and mentally.

Dream street car?

A black McLaren P1.
